Meet The Team
Spanning 3 generations of fitters DKAB is very much a family business. While Jeremy is clearly at the helm Ron (aka dad) is still a very active part of the on-site installations and is always on hand to make sure Jeremy has clean socks on!
Charlie aged 19 is studying for his Motorsports Bachelors of Engineering (BEng) degree however when time allows he is a brilliant addition to the team and the physical aspects of the job is the perfect workout to compliment his studies.
Technical & Installation
I started as an apprentice kitchen fitter aged 17 working for my dad’s kitchen company in South Wales. I’m sure anyone who has learnt their trade this way knows that your parents will always be your hardest, yet best critics. Armed with my saw, spirt level and a bag full of youthful confidence I moved to Blackpool in 1998. Word spread fast about the young fitter from Wales and in no time, I found myself working flat out for numerous showrooms in Blackpool, Lytham and St Annes.
What’s really nice is in the 25 years I have been in this industry customers kept my number and when the time comes for them to have more work done they’ve called me first and I found myself designing and supplying as many kitchen and bedrooms as I was installing.
When Laura and I met in 2016 it was clear we both had the same good old-fashioned ethics of treating people fairly and squarely. With Laura’s design and buying skills and my technical and installation knowledge we decided the time had come to do what people clearly wanted us to do and DKAB was born… and we love it!
Senior Designer & Estimating
My first job aged 16 was designing kitchens and bedrooms for house builders on new sites. That was the best initiation I could have wished for! It taught me that fast thinking and a sense of humour coupled with a straight forward approach go a long way in the industry. This totally cemented my passion for design and from there I moved into the commercial sector specialising in planning, design and interiors.
My last post prior to DKAB was as a senior buyer for a local construction company. Although I worked primarily on commercial projects it broadened my product knowledge and supplier contacts tenfold. The relationships built during that time opened so many doors for us that otherwise wouldn't have existed for a small family business. Since setting up DKAB we have done several kitchens and bedrooms for the homes of their clients and a forever rising number of installations for the tradesmen we have worked with over the years. I guess when you are a regular choice for the hardworking joiners, roofers, builders, electricians and plumbers of this world you must be doing something right!
Interior Designer, Marketing & Photography
I’ve had a passion for Interior Design and Architecture ever since I can remember, so it’s been a real achievement to turn my dream job into a reality.
Since gaining my BA (Hons) degree in Interior Design at the University of Central Lancashire, I've worked for several companies within the field gaining valuable knowledge and experience in hi-end cabinetry, lighting and interior design.
When the opportunity to work with Laura and Jeremy came along I jumped at the chance to be part of such a fresh thinking, design orientated company. Laura has such a great way of covering every detail with the customers, even when they don’t know what they want themselves. We discuss every part of the project and between us come up with the most amazing, affordable designs. Being involved in every aspect of the business is perfect for my skill set and I love doing the photo shoots for the clients, they are always so excited by the end results.
